Sutter Medical - News - News-Blog - Sustainability at Sutter-Green Party Politicians Kerstin Andreae and Dr. Sandra Detzer visit Sutter

As part of their "climate and economy" tour, Green Party politicians Kerstin Andreae and Dr. Sandra Detzer visited Sutter today.

During the meeting, CEO Bert Sutter presented the three pillars of sustainability that are important at Sutter: Business performance, ecology, and people. Sustainability has also been a significant aspect in the planning process of the company's planned move to Emmendingen. Architects Sibylle Räther and Alexander Höfflin (atelier für architektur, Constance) explained how the new headquarters in Emmendingen will incorporate the three pillars of sustainability to ensure a responsible use of limited resources.

Sustainable Growth
  • New buildings as a chance to optimize processes in the light of future growth
Sustainability – Planet

Energy efficient building concept:

  • Realization of an energy efficient building (KfW 55) that will lead to a reduction of CO2 emissions of 100 tons per year
  • Ventilation system with heat recovery
  • Photovoltaic system (approximately 1200 m²)
  • Charging station for e-bikes and electric vehicles

Green spaces:

  • Approximately 1450 m² greened roof areas
  • Installation of beehives
  • Creation of an employee garden
  • 34 deciduous trees will be planted to improve the micro climate
Sustainability – People:
  • Well-being / Light – Air – Acoustics: Daylight in almost all areas, healthy climate, limiting noise
  • Social areas incl. quiet room, leisure room, rooftop garden
  • Ergonomics: Creation of working spaces for people with disabilities, height-adjustable desks, etc.

Even at the current premises, Sutter has implemented many things to make sure the company operates in a sustainable way. This included the renovation of old buildings and the use of a solar power system. In addition, the company pays climate payments for flights and print products. Furthermore, Sutter has recently launched an e-learning site for the training of international distributors to reduce air travel.

Part of the sustainable vision of the company is also investing into the future of children. For many years, Sutter has sponsored children with World Vision and SOS children's villages - one child per employee. Currently, the company sponsors more than 100 children through the mentioned non-profit organizations.

The health of our employees is equally important. Sutter offers flexible working hours and employees participate in several sports activities around the year.

„Long-term sustainable thinking is in the genes of family businesses. A sustainable business performance is an essential part of our responsibility towards customers, employees, society, and nature. It is part of our daily life at Sutter", says CEO Bert Sutter.
