With their delicate profile of the tines, the precision forceps allow an optimal view of the tips and enable pinpoint coagulation, as the following statement by a user at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany, shows.
“The narrow profile of the Masterpiece™ non-stick bipolar forceps allows a good view past the legs of the forceps to the relevant structures, even in depth. This is particularly useful for dissecting in the cerebellopontine angle when the space encompasses only a few millimeters, persistent bleeding makes the view difficult, and at the same time the cranial nerves in the immediate vicinity must be spared. Also, the narrow legs can be passed directly past nerves to coagulate further in depth. The tip is defined in a very circumscribed way, which allows pinpoint coagulation. The filigree instrument does not allow coarser coagulation maneuvers, which is why it is recommended to switch to a SuperGliss® non-stick with thicker tips for larger vessels.“
