From May 24 to May 27, the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, met in Erfurt for their annual meeting. Together with our German distribution partner Neuwirth Medical Products, we were delighted to welcome many visitors at our booth in the exhibition area.
In addition, Sutter and Neuwirth Medical Products sponsored an afternoon symposium on precision tumor surgery in head and neck using radiofrequency. PD Clemens Heiser (University Hospital Klinikum Rechts der Isar, Munich) and PD Philippe E. Federspil (University Hospital Heidelberg) shared their experience with radiofrequency in head and neck surgery. Attendees learned about different tumors and surgical techniques. Both PD Clemens Heiser and PD Philippe E. Federspil explained advantages of the 4MHz radiofrequency technology in comparison with other technologies such as laser surgery, and shared detailed information on preferred settings and modes used for several procedures. Examples included skin tumors in the area of the face, as well as tumors of the tongue. The topic of the symposium attracted many attendees who are interested in using CURIS® 4MHz radiofrequency generator and Arrowtip™ monopolar electrodes for tumor surgery in head and neck.
"Using radiofrequency for dissection compared to other instruments is clearly superior.
It shows better hemostasis, better handling, better cutting and it is an inexpensive treatment compared to laser. “
PD Clemens Heiser
